Jamonica Brown
Jamonica Brown is the production assistant for A Colored Girl Speaks. She received her bachelor’s degree in psychology from Fayetteville State University and is a graduate student in human development and family studies at UNC Greensboro. Her research interests focus on the effects of parental colorism messages and communication styles on African American children’s self-esteem and development.
Veronica Thornton
Veronica Thornton is the announcer for A Colored Girl Speaks. She received masters’ degrees in marriage and family counseling from Regent University and in human development and family studies from UNC Greensboro. Veronica’s research and published papers focus primarily on child/youth mental health, social justice, public policy, and religious/spiritual development. She also volunteers as a campus minister and as a mentor to college students
Deanna Floyd
Deanna Floyd is the production assistant and social media specialist for A Colored Girl Speaks. She received her bachelor’s degree in social science and is now pursuing a second undergraduate degree in psychology at UNC Greensboro. Deanna plans to pursue graduate studies with the goal of conducting research on African American mental and reproductive health.
